Let’s talk about the biggest spring/summer shoe trend for the last few years- Gladiator Sandals. Where do I even being with this post? Gladiator sandals have been around since the Roman Empire (hence the name) and they have been in the spotlight as the It shoe for the past several years. I can clearly see why they are a summer essential year after year! Not only are they super versatile and comfortable, but they come in so many different styles, colors, and price range. I usually don’t gush over flats because I am self-conscious about my height (which is why I usually wear heels), but I have about 4 pairs of gladiator shoes, so that should tell you how much I love this shoe trend!
One of the main challenges short girls face in wearing tall stiff gladiator shoes or even the ones you tie (as shown here) is the height. In order to offset the high that these shoes bring and to elongate your legs, it is better to wear really short shorts or a short dress (and when I say short, I mean SHORT). For ankle length gladiator shoes you can definitely wear longer bottoms as they hit the ankle and don’t take away from your length. Since tall gladiator shoes are a statement piece, you want to pair them with a pretty simple outfit so you don’t take away focus away from the shoes.
I absolutely love these gladiator shoes from Mango because can be worn at pretty much any length. They can be tied up (as shown here) or tied at the ankles. Not only are they versatile in that aspect, but they are very comfortable and affordable. I have been looking for affordable gladiator shoes for over a month now and I finally found these a few weeks ago and I was ecstatic about the price!
I chose to wear this very flowy peasant top and denim shorts from Forever21. Speaking of Forever21, they have been killing it this year with their boho-chic items! I love how this top gives the whole outfit an easy breezy vibe and the sleeves definitely add a little touch of drama. The shorts are the perfect length for these tall gladiator shoes, because they are super short and elongate my legs!
